Samsung to launch Android XR headset on Oct. 22

Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday it will unveil its first Android-based extended reality (XR) headset through an online livestream on October 22.

The device, expected to debut as the Galaxy XR, was developed in partnership with Google LLC and Qualcomm Inc. on an artificial intelligence-driven Android XR platform.

The Android XR platform is designed to support multiple form factors, including augmented reality (AR) glasses, and the upcoming headset will be the first product powered by the new operating system.

Samsung highlighted its commitment to advancing AI technology and developing a new class of AI-native devices.

The unveiling will be livestreamed on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and the company’s official YouTube channel.
