Naver Webtoon showcases global IP at New York Comic Con

South Korea’s Naver Webtoon Corp. announced on Monday that it operated an official booth at this year’s New York Comic Con, which featured characters from its globally popular intellectual properties.

New York Comic Con is one of the world’s largest pop culture conventions, celebrating comics, animation, movies, and TV series, and attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Marking its second consecutive appearance at the event, Naver Webtoon aimed to raise awareness of webtoons among North American audiences.

Its booth featured not only original works such as “Teenage Mercenary” and “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” but also iconic characters from global partners, including Marvel’s “Spider-Man” and “Iron Man,” to draw strong visitor interest.

The company hosted a variety of fan engagement events, including a large gachapon machine of webtoon merchandise, costume contests, fan meetups, and sales of limited-edition goods.

The daily cosplay events brought together fans dressed as characters from both Korean webtoons and global franchises.

Fan meetups involving 13 creators drew long lines throughout the event. Among the highlights was the first fan meetup by Korean creators of “Teenage Mercenary” in the U.S.
