AMC ranked among world’s top 10 hospitals in six specialties

This marks the highest number of global top-10 placements for any hospital in South Korea.
The hospital, operated by the Asan Foundation under Chairman Chung Mong-Joon, placed 4th worldwide in oncology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology; 6th in neurology and urology; and 8th in orthopedics.
It was the only hospital in Korea to achieve top-10 status in six specialties and one of only a handful worldwide to do so.
AMC also secured the top ranking domestically in six specialties - gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurology, orthopedics, cardiology, and cardiac surgery - the most of any hospital nationwide.
The Newsweek rankings, which were released on September 11th, 2025, were prepared in partnership with global research firm Statista.
Hospitals were evaluated based on an international survey of healthcare professionals (85 percent), institutional accreditations (10 percent), and the use of patient-reported outcome measures (5 percent).
In oncology, AMC skipped a place from 2024 to 4th, placing it alongside world-renowned institutions such as MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the United States.
The hospital has also remained in the world’s top five in endocrinology for six consecutive years since the U.S. weekly news magazine first launched its specialty rankings.
Other specialties also saw improvements this year: cardiac surgery climbed 12 places, cardiology 7 places, pulmonology 5 places, orthopedics 4 places, neurology 2 places, and oncology 1 place.

It has also cemented its status as a global referral hospital for complex and severe conditions. More than 19,000 international patients - primarily from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Mongolia - sought treatment at the center in 2024.
The hospital has also trained more than 3,500 physicians from 88 countries over the past decade, many of whom now refer difficult cases back to Asan.
“AMC, a leader in the treatment of serious illnesses such as cancer and heart disease, has become a trusted global hospital for patients not only in Korea but around the world,” Asan Medical Center President Seung-Il Park said.
“We will continue to advance our care system for complex diseases to ensure patient safety and deliver the highest standard of medical services.”
