LG expands Purotec antibacterial tech to food processing

LG Electronics Inc. is expanding the application of its antibacterial functional material, Purotec, to the food processing industry through a partnership with salmon farming company Eco Aquafarm.

LG Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding with Eco Aquafarm on Thursday to apply Purotec in salmon processing.

The antimicrobial and antifungal material can be added to plastics, paint, rubber, and other substances to prevent odor, contamination, and discoloration caused by microorganisms.

Through this collaboration, Purotec will be integrated into the salmon processing stage to enhance hygiene standards in land-based aquaculture facilities and support food safety.
