Bucharest acting mayor and city hall candidate Nicusor Dan plants a tree

A number of 100 trees were planted on Queen Elisabeth Boulevard, based on a participatory budgeting project won in 2022 by the 'Streets for People' association, the last two of these saplings being planted by the general mayor of the Romanian capital, Nicusor Dan. The 'Green Crown for Queen Elisabeth' project had the aim of rehabilitating the green spaces on Queen Elisabeth Boulevard (Elisabeth of Wied was the first queen of Romania, the wife of King Carol I), one of the main avenues of Bucharest city. Nicusor Dan, 55, is a Romanian politician and mathematics university teacher currently serving as general mayor of Romania's capital. According to an opinion poll carried out by Verifield in April 2024, he leads the race for the mayor of Bucharest with 46.1 percent, five percentage points ahead of the next candidate.
