The Minister of Governance, Justice and Decentralization Tomas Vaquero confirmed that on the instructions of the country's president Xiomara Castro the government will extend teleworking to public employees in Tegucigalpa as the country experiences poor air quality. Honduras on 12 May issued a red (emergency) alert for two of its 18 departments due to air pollution affecting the country, mainly in Tegucigalpa, caused by a thick layer of smoke.
