Woori Bank is offering internship opportunities to Indonesian, Vietnamese and Cambodian students in Korea and is also providing scholarships to outstanding interns.
The bank announced Tuesday that it will accept applications for the Woori Internship, Scholarship & Hiring (WISH) program until May 31.
According to Woori Bank, it created the internship program to find global talent that has a thorough understanding of both Korea and Southeast Asian countries.
Indonesian, Vietnamese and Cambodian nationals enrolled in an academic program at a Korean university — a bachelor's, master's or language studies program — and will graduate within a year are eligible to apply.
Woori Bank will be selecting four students from each country to participate in the five-week internship. Interns will work and get career training at Woori Bank's head office, Woori Bank Sangam Center and the bank's foreigner-specialized branches.
Following the internship, six interns that show good performance will get scholarships. The scholarship will pay for the student's tuition for the 2024 fall semester and offer an additional monthly stipend for five months.
The six students will also be given the opportunity to work at Woori Bank's branches in Indonesia, Vietnam or Cambodia after graduation.
Those who wish to apply can get the application form via the Woori Wish KakaoTalk open chat room.
"We created the program to find local talent in advance, and to nurture those students into experts," said a spokesperson for Woori Bank. "We hope WISH participants will help us achieve our goals of expanding our presence in the Southeast Asian market."
