Large retail chain stores in some parts of Busan resumed normal operations on Sundays after mandatory closure regulations were lifted, following the trend in stores located in Seoul and Chungbuk.

According to retail industry sources on Sunday, large retail chain stores located in Sahagu, Donggu, Suyeonggu, and Gangseogu in Busan changed their designated closure days from the second and fourth Sundays of the month to the second and fourth Mondays starting in May 2024.

This change applies to large retail chain stores and semi-large stores, including Lotte Mart, Homeplus, Megamart, and Top Mart, in the four districts. Gangseogu withdrew the designation of mandatory closure days for large retail chain stores starting in May 2024, allowing them to operate 365 days a year. Previously, some local authorities, including Seoul and Chungbuk, changed mandatory closure days for large retailers to weekdays.
