The International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers, also known as Cisac, will hold its General Assembly, an international conference on creators' rights, in Yeouido, western Seoul, this year.

The event, organized by the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca), will be held for six days at the Conrad Seoul from May 27 to June 1. Komca, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year will host the conference, which is back in Korea for the first time in 20 years.

About 300 presidents of copyright collectives from around the world will gather to discuss major international copyright-related issues and hold side events, such as seminars, aimed at improving copyright systems globally. Komca aims to play a role in leading international copyright standards and trends.

Founded in 1926, Cisac is a nonprofit organization with 225 copyright organizations in 116 countries around the world as members. It represents more than 5 million creators in the field of culture and arts, including music, drama, literature and formative and visual arts, according to its website.

In 2004, Komca helped lay the foundations for mutual copyright management with overseas copyright organizations when it hosted the Cisac General Assembly in Korea for the first time.

"I am deeply moved that Komca, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, will be able to hold the Cisac General Assembly again after 20 years," said Komca Chair Chu Ga-yeoul. "With this event, the association will take a role as a bridgehead for friendly cooperation between overseas copyright organizations."
