Hangeul Wall, the world’s first and largest public artwork involving hangul, Korean characters, will be created at the Korean Cultural Center New York in Manhattan.

According to the Korean Cultural Center New York on Tuesday, local time, it is launching the Hangeul Wall project in collaboration with Kang Ik-joong, a world-renowned installation artist. The project involves creating a large mural on the wall of its new headquarters.

The center plans to unveil the 22-meter-high and 8-meter-wide artwork to the public in September 2024.

Anyone can participate in the artwork by submitting meaningful hangul phrases they want to share with the world to the center through its website.

The center will select 1,000 works that will be incorporated into the large mural.
