Hyein of NewJeans will not participate in promotional activities for the girl group's upcoming single “How Sweet” to focus on recovering from a foot injury that she suffered early last month.
Though Hyein will not take part in live and music show performances, she will carry out other scheduled activities in a “flexible manner,” her agency, ADOR, said on fan community platform Weverse on Wednesday.
“Hyein has been focusing on treatment and recovery for her injury but was advised by her doctor to minimize movement that could strain the top of her foot,” the agency said.
“Hyein will flexibly participate in scheduled activities other than music shows and performances following her condition and medical advice.”
The NewJeans member paused activities after discovering a microfracture in her foot in early April; her agency said she would heed medical advice to limit movement until she recovered.
ADOR did not reveal whether Hyein will participate in promotional activities for NewJeans’ Japanese debut single, “Supernatural,” which is set to drop on June 21. The group is also scheduled to hold two fan meet and greets at Tokyo Dome on June 26 and 27.
“How Sweet” is slated for release on May 24. The music video for “Bubble Gum,” one of the single's tracks, was revealed on April 27.
