Innovative exterior material transforms construction landscape

An innovative exterior material that helps prevent fire spread and water leakage is changing the construction landscape and is gaining attention from the chips, battery, and bio sectors.

According to multiple sources from the construction materials industry on Monday, Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) is speeding up the introduction of a metal panel from Kwang Steel (KSC), a leading building materials company based in Seoul.

The Speed Block panels are fire-resistant and free of water leaks, one of the common issues found in conventional exterior materials. They feature an aluminum body, an embedded gasket, and a drainage system that channels rainwater to the bottom.

“The panels, as a result of endless research and testing, can be easily removed and reinstalled to enable more effective maintenance and repairs,” said KSC Chief Executive Officer Gwak In-hak.
