Singer and actor IU donated 100 million won ($73,800) to celebrate this year's Children's Day, which falls every year on May 5, continuing her 9-year streak of donating for the good of children.
IU's agency EDAM Entertainment said Sunday that she made the donation to ChildFund Korea under the name IUaena, a portmanteau of her stage name IU and the singer's official fan club Uaena.
IU has been making donations under the name IUaena since 2008 to various causes and has been donating every year on Children's Day since 2015. IU also made donations on her birthday, May 16.
IU began her 2024 world tour "HER" last March with four concerts in Seoul. She performed in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia and is set to hold her next concerts in Hong Kong on May 25 and 26.
The tour will be followed by stops in the Philippines, Malaysia, Germany, Thailand, Japan, and the United States and finish with two encore concerts in Seoul in September. Find out more about IU at Celeb Confirmed
