The music video for NewJeans' new track "Bubble Gum" surpassed 5 million views just 13 hours after its release on Friday midnight on YouTube, with more than 43,000 comments expressing love and support for the quintet amid the ongoing conflict between the group's producer and HYBE.
NewJeans released the music video of "Bubble Gum" on Friday at midnight, a month prior to the release of its upcoming single "How Sweet" slated for May 24. Only the music video was released.
The song features a laid-back, easy-to-listen melody and catchy lyrics, and has been used for a shampoo commercial in Japan.
The music video surpassed 4 million views within 10 hours of release and became the No. 3 on the most watched video within 24 hours on YouTube.
Comments have been filled with fans showing support for the group, especially amid the ongoing feud between Min Hee-jin, the CEO of the girl group's agency ADOR, and HYBE, which owns 80 percent of ADOR.
"The best thing about NewJeans is that it feels so natural," read a comment with more than 12,000 likes as of Saturday noon. "I wish you the best luck in the world."
"NewJeans is the only organic group from HYBE, the K-pop factory," read another comment with 3,300 likes.
NewJeans has one Korean single, "How Sweet," scheduled for May 24, a Japanese single and two concerts at Tokyo Dome in June. The quintet also announced an album to come within the latter half of the year and a world tour set to begin next year.
