Kakao creates ESG team to promote shared growth

South Korean platform giant Kakao Corp. has established an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) promotion team under its Corporate Alignment (CA) Council‘s ESG Committee, sources said on Wednesday.

The move is seen as Kakao’s efforts to demonstrate a stronger commitment to shared growth.

The ESG promotion team is responsible for practical matters related to cooperation with small business owners. It is headed by Yuk Sim-na, director of Kakao Impact, a corporate foundation under Kakao.

Kakao established a win-win team under the ESG Committee in February 2024 by integrating functions previously scattered across various departments.

The team is in charge of communicating with small business associations and civic groups and has a social cooperation team dedicated to communication with social organizations.
