K-water to help fix Uzbekistan's water shortage issues

The state-run Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) joined forces with Uzbekistan to help the Central Asian country with its water shortage problem.

The state-run Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) joined forces with Uzbekistan to help the Central Asian country with its water shortage problem.

K-water will help Uzbekistan manage the water supply through its digital twin technology and AI-controlled water filtering system.

The agreement was signed in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, on Tuesday.

Uzbekistan regularly struggles with its water supply due to dry weather and the sharing of water sources with neighboring countries. Aged plumbing infrastructure also adds to the low efficiency when supplying water.

The state-run organization hopes to contribute to reducing greenhouse gases through its projects.

"Korea will actively help Uzbekistan manage water by scientifically utilizing our digital water management technology," said Yun Seog-dae, CEO of K-water.

"Through this partnership, we hope that Korea leads in advanced water management technology and offers climate solutions to countries around the world."

K-water serves as the chair of the Asia Water Council, which works to counter water shortage issues and climate risks.
