Samsung Electronics tops U.S. home appliance market in 2023

Samsung Electronics Co. secured the top spot in the U.S. home appliance market last year, according to market research firm TraQline on Wednesday.

The company accounted for 21 percent of the U.S. home appliance market in 2023 based on sales.

LG Electronics Inc. ranked second with 19 percent, followed by General Electric Co. with 18 percent, and Whirlpool Corp. with 15 percent.

In terms of quantity, Samsung Electronics led with 19 percent, followed by GE at 17 percent, LG Electronics at 16 percent, and Whirlpool at 16 percent, according to the survey.

When it comes to brand consideration by consumers when purchasing home appliances, Samsung Electronics topped the list at 32 percent.

LG Electronics followed closely behind at 29 percent, while GE and Whirlpool each garnered 28 percent.

Samsung Electronics has been expanding its market share in the U.S. home appliance market by introducing new products and services enhanced with connectivity and usability based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The 2024 models of the Bespoke lineup introduced in the United States are equipped with high-performance AI chips, cameras, and sensors.

The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator is equipped with the AI Vision Inside feature, which recognizes the food coming in and out through internal cameras.

The Bespoke AI Combo, an all-in-one washer-dryer, detects the weight, type, and degree of soiling of the laundry based on AI.

The Bespoke AI Steam robot vacuum cleaner is also equipped with front-facing camera sensors that can recognize various objects.

Samsung Electronics has also launched outdoor advertisements at Times Square in New York since April 3 to promote its AI Vision Inside feature of the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator.
