Romanian Border Police press conference on joining Schengen Area measures at Bucharest Airport

From March 31, passengers from Romania will no longer have to wait at the border control if they arrive in the free movement area, as 70 percent of the flights will be in the Schengen Area and 30 percent in the non-Schengen Area. In 2023, Henri Coanda International Airport was transited by approximately 15 million people, with an average of 43,000 people per day in the summer season. Starting from April 01, the border guards will continue to be present in the premises of airports in Romania, and will carry out punctual and unannounced checks to verify the identity and legal status of persons, but also to prevent and combat possible illegal acts.
