The hype continues to build for Mnet’s upcoming audition show “I-LAND2:N/a.” Its theme song, “Final Love Song,” producers have revealed, will feature none other than Blackpink’s Rosé.
A performance video of “Final Love Song” will drop on April 4, two weeks ahead of the program's April 18 premiere. The song is sung by Rosé and the show’s 24 contestants who will vie to debut in an upcoming girl group on-screen.
It was produced by in-house producers from The Black Label, co-founded and headed by Teddy, a veteran producer behind numerous K-pop hits from artists including Blackpink, Big Bang and 2NE1.
Teddy, and The Black Label producers 24 and VVN introduced the tune in a video uploaded Thursday.
“Final Love Song” samples rock band Europe’s iconic song “The Final Countdown” (1986), Teddy said, adding that the track will amplify the tension, solemnity and grandeur shown in “I-LAND2:N/a.”
“There are a lot of obstacles one must give up on in the process of achieving dreams; the track is a final farewell to those beloved obstacles,” VVN said.
“I-LAND2:N/a” is the second season of Mnet’s “I-LAND,” the first season of which aired in 2020 and led to the creation of HYBE's boy band Enhypen.
The resulting girl group will be trained and managed by WakeOne, a K-pop agency wholly owned by CJ ENM. Contestants were identified out of more than 20,000 applicants through a global audition tour that took place throughout last year.
Actor Song Kang will host “I-LAND2:N/a.” Big Bang’s Taeyang, VVN and Monica will serve as mentors.
The 24 contestants and their profiles were revealed last week, and a list of the show’s celebrity cast of judges and producers was publicized earlier on.
