Korean American actor and producer Daniel Dae Kim received honorary citizenship from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon at City Hall in downtown Seoul on Wednesday.
Kim, known for his television roles in the popular U.S. series "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-O," became Seoul's honorary citizen in appreciation of promoting the capital in the upcoming Prime Video series "Butterfly."
Kim has been filming in Seoul for the series since February as lead actor and executive producer.
“Though I am a proud American citizen, I’m also immensely proud of my Korean heritage," Kim said.
"Receiving this honorary citizenship brings together both my past and my present, and has made me feel as welcome in Korea as I do in the United States."
