Emart to sell limited chestnut sweet in collaboration with BiBi

South Korean supermarket chains Emart Inc. and Emart Everyday Inc. announced Tuesday that they will exclusively sell a limited edition of chestnut yanggaeng, a sweet red bean snack, in collaboration with singer BiBi, known for her song, Bam Yang Gang.

With the growing popularity of BiBi’s song, her agency, Feel Ghood Music, and Crown, a confectionery company, discussed producing merchandise.

Emart’s involvement led to the development of the planned product.

A distinctive feature of the Crown Bam Yang Gang product packaging is BiBi’s design incorporated into it. The prepared quantity, which will be released from March 22, is 50,000 units, with a bundle of 10 pieces priced in the 5,000 won ($3.7) range.

Since the release of the Bam Yang Gang song, which marked a resurgence in BiBi’s career, yanggaeng sales have been on the rise.

From the song’s release on March 13 until March 17, yanggaeng sales increased by 35 percent compared to the same period last year, with nearly one million units sold.
