The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Tuesday that it will release 110,000 coupons for lodging outside the greater Seoul area starting next week in a bid to boost tourism in regional parts of the country.
They will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis from 10 a.m. on Feb. 27 through 40 online channels. Only one coupon will be allowed per person and they will be accepted at all types of facilities outside of Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon, including hotels, condos and resorts.
Upon booking a room that is over 50,000 won ($37), travelers will be privy to a 30,000-won discount, according to the ministry.
Travelers can use the coupons right away on Feb. 27. They expire after April 14.
The ministry, in conjunction with the Korea Tourism Organization earlier this month, released 90,000 of the same coupons to be used during the Lunar New Year holiday, from Feb. 7 to 25. Individuals who received those coupons are also eligible to participate in the upcoming giveaway, the ministry said.
It added that it also plans to hold a similar event in June.
