“Inside Out 2,” the sequel to the hit Pixar Studios animation “Inside Out” (2015), will open in Korea in the summer next year, the Walt Disney Company Korea announced Friday.
“Inside Out,” which opened in 2015, follows the five emotions — Fear, Anger, Joy, Disgust and Sadness — of a young girl named Riley, who goes through a major change in her life, moving from Minnesota to San Francisco.
As Riley struggles to adjust to her new life, her five emotions go through ups and downs and Joy and Sadness go on a journey within Riley’s inner world.
“Inside Out” received the Best Animation Feature at the 88th Academy Awards and attracted 4.97 million viewers in Korea alone. The film grossed a total of $858.8 million worldwide.
Amy Poehler and Phyllis Smith will return as the voices of Joy and Sadness, respectively, in the sequel. Lewis Black will also return as Anger, while Tony Hale will replace Bill Hader as Fear, and Liza Lapira will replace Mindy Kaling as Disgust. Maya Hawke will play the voice of a new character, Anxiety.
Kelsey Mann will direct “Inside Out 2” in his feature directorial debut.
