Kia's EV6 SUV wins Best of the Best Red Dot award

Kia's all-electric EV6 SUV was named Best of the Best for product design at the 2022 Red Dot Award, the Korean automaker said Tuesday.

Kia’s all-electric EV6 SUV was named Best of the Best for product design at the 2022 Red Dot Award, the Korean automaker said Tuesday. The model also won top prize in the Innovative Products category. The Red Dot Award, organized by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordhein Westfalen, was founded in 1955 and is considered one of three big design awards in the world along with the iF Design Award and International Design Excellence Awards. This year’s Red Dot awards were voted on by 50 independent designers from around the world. “These two Red Dot awards honor the hard work of our teams and encourage us to stay the course towards the future of environmentally responsible mobility for all,” Karim Habib, head of Kia Global Design Center, said. “We have the ambition to keep pushing the boundaries of automotive design and to back up product substance with inventive, bold and forward-looking designs.” Kia's EV6, which launched in March 2021, was the first model to reflect the automaker's new design concept dubbed "Opposites United," which finds inspiration in the "contrast found in nature and humanity." Kia’s EV6 is the sixth Kia model to receive the Best of the Best accolade. Kia’s Soul was the first model to receive the award in 2009.
