South Korea’s Posco International said on Tuesday it has won an order to supply half shafts for electric vehicles to Vietnam's Vinfast Corp, Vietnam's first finished carmaker established by Vin Group, in consortium with Erae AMS.

A half shaft acts as a driving shaft in the battery electric vehicle (BEV).

The two Korean companies will start shipment of the auto part next year with an initial supply volume for about 100,000 electric vehicles to be produced by Vinfast.

Since 2011, Posco International has partnered with Erae AMS, which is now responsible for the supply of key auto parts to Fiat Chysler in North America.

The two have deepened their partnership for the mobility startup industry in the U.S.

Posco International uses its global network to provide motor cores, key to the driving motor of eco-friendly cars, produced by Posco SPS, to local auto parts makers in Europe.
