Dongkuk Steel Mill ready for commercial production of antibacterial color steel sheets

South Korea’s Dongkuk Steel Mill Co. has completed its year-long development of antibacterial color steel sheets and will enter into commercial production this month, the company said Thursday.

According to the company, it will start producing the Luxteel Bio Coat this month. The new antibacterial color-coated steel sheet can be used for various purposes, including elevator fire doors, construction materials as well as in food manufacturing lines and semiconductor plants.

Luxteel Bio Coat’s two variants - Bio Coat Premium and Bio Coat Microban - have been approved by Korea’s FITI Testing & Research Institute and the global antimicrobial protection company Microban International, respectively.

This is Korea’s first antibacterial color steel sheet to earn an internationally-recognized certification, according to Dongkuk Steel Mill.

The company plans to start supplying its new products to 10 clients across Korea, Thailand, China, Australia and the U.K. and gradually expand sales to other markets.
