S.Korea, Japan co-exhibit 'Pensive Bodhisattvas' for first time
South Korea and Japan have jointly exhibited their national treasure-designated statues of meditating Buddha for the first time.
The National Museum of Korea said on Monday the exhibition, titled "Pensive Bodhisattvas: National Treasures of Korea and Japan", is set to be staged from today (Tuesday) to June 12 in Seoul, as part of the two neighboring nations' celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic normalcy.
The exhibition, co-organized by the two neighboring nations, is to be highlighted with the display of the Buddha statues called "Pensive Bodhisattva" of which the South Korean version is believed to have been created in the 6th century and the Japanese in the 7th century.
Both statues have been designated as a national treasure by their respective country.
