(드레스덴, 독일 2016년 4월 4일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 권선택 시장이 이끄는 한국 대전광역시 대표단이 드레스덴을 공식 방문 중이다. 방문 중에 권선택 대전시장은 엄숙한 의식에서 디르크 힐버트(Dirk Hilbert) 드레스덴 부시장과 교류협정을 체결한다. 앞으로 2년 동안 이 협정은 2018년을 기점으로 ‘쌍둥이’ 도시가 될 두 도시의 협력을 도모하는 토대가 될 전망이다.

이번 교류협정은 대표단 방문 및 두 도시에서 열리는 무역 박람회와 회의 참석을 위한 상호 지원을 포함한다. 드레스덴과 대전은 접촉 기회를 제공함으로써 중소기업 간 협력을 강화하고자 한다. 드레스덴은 대전에 있는 연구소들과 협력하는데 높은 관심을 보이고 있다.

드레스덴은 유럽에서 가장 중요한 마이크로일렉트로닉스 도시일 뿐만 아니라, 정보 기술, 소프트웨어 개발, 기계와 시스템 공학 및 제약산업을 위한 생명공학 같은 첨단 분야에서 활약하는 수많은 중소 혁신기업들의 고장이기도 하다. 드레스덴 공과대학(TU Dresden)은 독일의 일류 대학 중 하나다. 그뿐만 아니라 Fraunhofer Society를 비롯해 11개 협회와 연구 시설들이 드레스덴의 연구 수준을 높이고 있다.

대전은 특히 드레스덴의 전차와 도시철도시스템에 대해 더 많은 것을 배우고자 한다. 이를 위해 조직자들은 도시교통 기획가와 Dresden Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB)가 참여하는 워크숍을 계획했다. 이 워크숍은 드레스덴 대중 교통망 계획 및 운영 방식에 초점을 맞출 예정이다.

Dresden and Daejeon to Sign Cooperation Agreement to Become 'Twin Cities'

DRESDEN, Germany, April 4, 2016/PRNewswire/ -- A delegation from the metropolitan city of Daejeon, South Korea, led by Mayor Kwon Sun-Taik, is visiting the city of Dresden for an official visit; and in a solemn ceremony, Mayor Kwon Sun-Taik of Daejeon and Dresden's Deputy Mayor Dirk Hilbert will sign a cooperation agreement. For the next two years, the agreement will function as the foundation for a collaboration between the two municipalities that establishes them as "twin" cities in 2018.

The Agreement includes mutual support for delegation visits and participation in trade fairs and conferences in both cities. In addition, Daejeon and Dresden aim to strengthen cooperation between small-and-medium-sized businesses by providing contacts. Dresden has a strong interest in collaborating with Daejeon's research institutes.

Dresden is not only Europe's most important microelectronics location, the city is home to many innovative small-and-medium-sized enterprises active in the high-tech sector including information technology, software development, machine-and-systems engineering, and biotechnology for the pharmaceutical industry. Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) is one of Germany's elite universities. In addition, eleven institutes and research facilities as well as the Fraunhofer Society enhance Dresden's research landscape.

A particular goal of Daejeon is to learn more about Dresden's tram and urban rail system. For this reason, organizers have planned a workshop with urban transport planners and Dresden Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) that will focus on the planning and operation praxis of the Dresden public transportation network.
