At a press conference in Nairobi, Kenya, on 07 September 2011, a day after his visit to the Dadaab camp, N'Dour said he and Bono, an Irish musician, are planning an Olympic-style global torch relay which will finish with a concert in Kenya in 2012 in an effort to raise funds and awareness about the famine crisis in the Horn of Africa. On 05 September 2011, the United Nations declared a famine in another region of Somalia. The country's Southern Bay region is now the sixth areas to be in famine.
