(일리노이주 노스브룩 및 아이오와주 뉴턴 2011년 5월 25일 AsiaNet=연합뉴스) 세계 최고의 첨단 안전 업체인 UL이 아이오와주 뉴턴을 기반으로 하는 Springboard Engineering, Inc.의 자산을 인수하기로 하는 최종 계약을 오늘 발표했다. Springboard Engineering, Inc.는 Maytag 디자인 엔지니어들이 설립된 굴지의 성능, ENERGY STAR(R), 신뢰 및 엔지니어링 자문 서비스 기업이다.

이번 거래가 완료되면 Springboard Engineering은 UL Verification Services 사업에 속하게 된다. 5월 말 거래가 완료된 후에도 Springboard Engineering은 아이오와주 뉴턴에 있는 본사를 그대로 유지할 계획이다. Jordan Bruntz 또한 Springboard Engineering 사장직을 계속 역임하게 될 것으로 보인다.

UL과 Springboard Engineering은 이번 거래에서 재정 자문을 자체적으로 해결했다.

(NORTHBROOK, Ill. and NEWTON, Iowa, May 25, 2011 AsiaNet=연합뉴스) UL, a world leader in advancing safety, announced today a definitive agreement whereby UL will acquire the assets of Newton, Iowa-based Springboard Engineering, Inc., a leading performance, ENERGY STAR(R), reliability and engineering advisory services company that was founded by Maytag design engineers.

"This acquisition will enable UL to strengthen and expand our capabilities to serve key customers in the HVAC, Appliances, and Components segments and give us a comprehensive suite of services to support global manufacturers," said Sajeev Jesudas, President, UL Verification Services. "Springboard Engineering's experience and capabilities will allow us to increase our safety and performance testing capacity and expand our offerings in key growth markets such as ENERGY STAR(R) and smart appliances."

"Springboard Engineering and UL share complementary offerings and we fully expect this will play a critical role in deepening our relationships with our combined customers," said Jordan Bruntz, the president of Springboard Engineering. "With our combined focus on safety, performance, energy testing, and engineering services, together we can play a key role in helping companies create safer and more energy efficient products."

Upon completion of the transaction, Springboard Engineering will become part of UL's Verification Services business. Springboard Engineering will continue to be headquartered in Newton, Iowa, after the deal closes at the end of May. Jordan Bruntz will remain in his role as the President of Springboard Engineering.

UL and Springboard Engineering acted as their own financial advisor for this transaction.
